Varnie Dillard

Varnie Eugene (Gene) Dillard, 83, of Eden, Texas passed away peacefully on August 9, 2015. He was born on May 17, 1932 to Varnie and Sophie Dillard in Millersview, Texas. Gene grew up in Concho County. He graduated from Paint Rock High School and Sul Ross State University. While at Sul Ross he met the love of his life, Wanda Mae Clark. Gene and Wanda were married September 12, 1957. May of 1958 Gene and Wanda moved to Eden, Texas.

Gene went into partnerships with Varnie Dillard in the John Deere Dealership. Throughout his life he was a life-long farmer and rancher. He served as Chief Appraiser and Tax Collector for Concho County for twenty-five years. He served in the Korean War and was a member of the VFW. He was a member of Paint Rock's Masonic Lodge and was a member of Eden First Baptist Church. Gene enjoyed RVing and fishing with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; parents, Varnie and Sophie; brother, Johnny Dillard and brother-in-law, Gail Bingham.

He is survived by one son, David Dillard and wife, Kelli of Eden; grandson, Chayse Dillard; granddaughter, Danyelle Dillard; sister, Nita Joy Bingham of Kearny, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Mooney of Eden and Dorothy Owen of Tonkawa, OK; and brother-in-law J.N. Clark of Lafayette, LA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Millersview's Community Center or Cemetery Association or charity of choice.
