Thomas Wright

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas A. Wright, of Wrightsville, will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 1 PM at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Bill Oliver Road in Wrightsville. Pastor Al Sanders will deliver the eulogy. The interment will follow in the Westivew Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas A. Wright was born on August 14, 1949, to the late Nolan Dixon and the late Elnora Scott. He attended the Doc Kemp School. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church which he joined at an early age. He worked for W. F. Jackson Construction from 1968 until he retired in 2010 due to health conditions. Most of his co-workers knew him as "Stump". On March 19, 1976 he married his lovely wife of 41 years, Mary Ellen Martin Wright. He was called to rest on May 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his aunt, Nina Carswell, and his brother, Willie Arthur "Rabbit" Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Wright, four children, Shona Gipson, Tiffany Wright, Belinda Wright, Chadric Wright. He leaves behind three sisters, Nettie (Willie) Swint, Kathlean Lee, Vera (Melvin) McBride, one brother-in-law, Robert (Bernice) Martin, and his mother-in-law, Willie Pearl Wright, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and many nieces, nephews and long-time friends. Mr Wright will be missed.

The family is receiving friends at 1356 Goins Road in Wrightsville.
