Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Hall, Sr., of Tampa, Florida will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Union Hill Baptist Church, 2389 Deep Cut Road in Tennille, Georgia with Elder Edward Allen officiating. Superintendent Robert Spencer will be the eulogist. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Church Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas Hall, Sr. was born in Lugoff, South Carolina, on March 10, 1937, to Bernice Hall who was one of the ten children (six sons and four daughters) born to Essix Hall, II, and Emma Hubbard Hall. As the first grandson, Thomas, Sr. was surrounded by hard working uncles and aunts who doted over him and taught him the meaning of hard work and earning your share. At a young age, Thomas, Sr. and the family relocated to
Brooklyn, New York, where they joined other family members that had made "The Great Migration" to the north in earlier years. He graduated from Boys High in Brooklyn. While there, he joined the Boy Scouts and became the lead drummer in the Drum& Bugle Corps. It was a thrill to hear him lead the band in the annual Brooklyn Day parade. He was also a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church. As he matured, Thomas, Sr. chose to join the Navy at 17 years old. He was stationed at NAS Key West and deployed on the USS Forrestal (Carrier). On August 20, 1960, Thomas, Sr. made one of the best decisions of his life. He married Miss Pauline Cannida Hunter of Tennille, Georgia. From this union, four children were born who were raised with a strict, yet loving hand guided by the Word of God. Eventually they relocated to Dublin, Georgia. They joined and became faithful, dedicated members of the Saint John Church of God in Christ in Tennille, Georgia. Thomas, Sr. became an Operating Room Technician and worked for over 20 years at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. Thomas was also employed at Laurens Memorial Hospital, Claxton Memorial Hospital, and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dublin. His faithful wife, Pauline, was a teacher in the Dublin public school system. In their later years, Thomas Sr. and Pauline relocated to Tampa, Florida, to be with their sons. It was there that they joined Bible Based Fellowship Church under Reverend Anthony White.
Thomas, Sr. was a pillar of strength for his family and community. He was a man of faith, grace, excellence, and he walked in God’s love with integrity. When we think of him, we think of love. He showed empathy, compassion and respect to others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with his
family.
On August 9, 2019, our faithful God chose to call Thomas, Sr. home to peace and calm. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Pauline Cannida Hall; his parents, Sam Latimore and Bernice Hall Latimore; and youngest son, Terrance Lamar Hall. He will also be met by Grandma Emma; uncles, Essix, Richard, Jesse, Willie Edward, Willis and Johnny; and aunts, Beatrice, Eula Mae and Leathe. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughter, Antoinette (Ronald) Robinson, Dublin, Georgia; sons, Thomas Hall and Brian Hall, Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Jomeika
