Funeral services for Mr. Tennyson Davis of Dublin will be held on Friday, March 14, at 1:00 PM at the Turkey Creek Baptist Church, 828 Scotland Road in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Dr. Frederick Williams will officiate.

Mr. Davis, who passed on March 8, 2014, was born on March 20, 1949, in Dublin, Georgia, to Mr. Alfonzo and Mrs. Oznola Davis. He was educated in the Dublin City School system and was a 1966 graduate of Oconee High School. After graduation, He was drafted into the United States Army. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Special Forces Green Beret. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He was one of the first African American Firemen to be employed by the Dublin Fire Department in 1974. He was later employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital and retired after 28 years of service in 2011.

At any early age, he joined the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School, was a member of the Male and Senior Choirs and he also served on the Trustee Board. He served faithfully until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita McGregor; one brother, Ricky Davis; a mother- in- law, Mrs. Cora Lee Carswell; and father- in- law, Mr. Willie Carswell.

He leaves to cherish a loving wife of 37 years, Catherine Carswell Davis; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alfonzo Davis; one brother, Jerry (Delois) Davis of Dublin; two sisters, Brenda (Richard) Pauldo, of Dublin, Rosemary Fullwood of Dublin; five brothers -in- law, Lonnie Carswell, Wilbert Carswell, Carl Carswell all of Dublin, Albert Carswell, Miami, Florida, & Johnnie Carswell of Lorraine Ohio; six sisters- in- law, Susie Tucker, Clara Boyer, Christine Carswell, Carrie B. (Sammie) Bell, Wanda Parker of Dublin, Judy (Jamie) Graves of Hallendale Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends at 505 Ray Street in Dublin.
