Tansen Ajmera, 55 It is not the length of life, but depth of life - Ralph Waldo Emerson Tansen “Tom” Ajmera, 55, of Rancho Cucamonga, California passed away due to a sudden heart attack on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at his home. Tansen was born on Aug. 2nd 1957 to Amarshi and Kanta Ajmera in Surat, India. On Dec. 4th, 1980, he married Punita Shah in Ahmedabad, India. He spent his early life in Surat, India before immigrating to his adopted homeland, the United States in 2003. He was a well-known businessman and a significant figure in the Jain community. He established the first Jain Jagruti Center (non-profit) in Surat to promote community service. He was a great leader and served as a Board Member for many non-profits which promoted Jain values. Tansen was a philanthropist who assisted students to pursue higher education and also helped families in need. He enjoyed volunteering, home improvement projects, gardening (roses were his favorite), real-estate and political news. He also enjoyed culinary treats (especially fried snacks and Indian desserts), walking in the crisp California evenings, gaining knowledge in the Jain faith and spending time with his family and friends. Being the great listener that he was, Tansen counseled many friends and family members on various topics, ranging from relationships to personal finance. Tansen is survived by his wife of 32 years Punita, son Parag, daughters Dimple and Kinjal, daughter-in-law Vaibhavi, brothers Dinesh and Sevanti, sister Aruna and many loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amarshi and Kanta, his brothers Sashikant and Bharat, and his sister Jaya. He was a loving son, father, husband, brother and friend to all. A funeral service will be held at 3.30 p.m., Thursday, March 14 at Redlands Church of Christ, 1000 Roosevelt Road, Redlands, California 92374. There will also be a memorial service held at 8:30AM, Saturday, March 16th at Shree Sthanakvasi Jain Sangh Upashray, Sagrampura, Surat, India. In lieu of flowers/gifts, donations may be made in Tansen Ajmera's honor at SEE International - Santa Barbara. Surgical Eye Expedition (SEE) International provides sustainable medical, surgical, and educational services through volunteer ophthalmic surgeons with the objectives of restoring sight and preventing blindness to disadvantaged individuals worldwide. Alternatively, checks can also be brought to the funeral service. Being that Mr. Tansen Ajmera was very passionate about academics, donors can choose to donate to a Scholarship Fund. You can bring your donations for the scholarship fund to the funeral service. The institutions being considered for Financial support are Chaffey College and other local Universities as well as the schools that Tansen Ajmera attended in India.
