Funeral services for Mr. Sidney “Dock” Wright, Sr., of East Dublin, Georgia, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the New Bethel AME Church, 1820 New Buckeye Road, East Dublin. Pastor Eddie Oliver will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in East Dublin.

Mr. Sidney “Dock” Wright, Sr., was born in Laurens County on May 9, 1921, to the late Janks and Lucy Amerson Wright. He attended school in Laurens County. He started working at an early age as a logger for Mr. Grady Screws. He was a faithful member of New Bethel AME Church until his health begin to decline. He was fondly known as “Dad” or “Uncle Dock” and was known for bringing laughter and joy to everyone who came around, He was very outspoken; if he didn’t like something, he would surely let you know. He passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Retha Mincey Wright, and by his second wife, Gladys Hodges Wright, two daughters, Lena Mae Wright and Odessa Gilmore, a son, Sidney “Finey” Wright Jr., a son-in-law Daniel Burley, siblings, Elizabeth Wright, Rosa Lee Lattimore, Leona Blue, Alberta Plummer, Lilly Bell Knight, Joseph Wright and Robert Lee Wright.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, William (Carolyn) Wright, Larry Butler, and Eddie Moss of Dublin; his daughters, Ella Mitchell, Shirley Burley, and Jennifer (Samuel) Farojoye of East Dublin; five grandchildren that he helped raise as his own; Jeffery (Tanya) Wright, Jacquelyn Wright; Joseph (Rolanda) Wright, and Patricia (Eric) Horne of East Dublin; three devoted nephews; Bennie Lee Wright and Arthur Wright of Dublin, Eddie Lee Wright of Jacksonville, Florida; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives, long-time friends, and his loving church members of New Bethel AME Church.

The family is receiving friends at 1053 Old River Road in East Dublin and on Friday, July 13, 6-7 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home.
