Funeral services for Mrs. Sheryl Whitley, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 2:00 PM at the Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church North, 1524 Claxton Dairy Road in Dublin. Reverend Elgin Dixon will officiate. Interment will follow in the Adrian Memorial Cemetery in Adrian.

Mrs. Whitley, who passed on July 28, was born on June 11, 1951, to the late Willie Curtis Whitley and the late Virginia Ricks Whitley. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Whitley Smith.

She graduated from Dock Kemp High School in 1971. Mrs. Whitley was employed for twenty years as a seamstress for Creston's/Argo Mills in Swainsboro and as a home health care aide from 1996 until her health failed in 2007.

She is survived by a son, Tshombe Imani Baker (Maria Ricks); grandchildren, Clayton Deondre Watson, Jr., Tyra Iman Baker, Makayla Ikia Baker; as a daughter, Maria Ricks and her baby, Octavia O'Neal; sister, Marie (Bobby) Ward of Swainsboro; brother-in-law, Eugene Smith of Dublin; nieces, Tara Holder and Taronda Smith; nephews, Terrence Williams, Trevis Holder, Taldon Williams, Tracy Holder; uncle, Johnny (Nellie) Whitley; aunts, Jacquelyn Whitley, Jessie Whitley and Juanelle Bailey; special cousins, Alta Graves and Reba Ricks; devoted friend, Eola Burton and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1500 Azalea Drive in Dublin, and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Friday from 6 until 7 PM.
