Sandra Jones
Funeral services for Ms. Sandra Kay Jones, of Cadwell, Georgia, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday April 14, 2018, at the New Providence Baptist Church, 3127 Fountain Road, Cadwell. Pastor Edward Northcutt will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Jones was born on September 17, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Frank Jones and Minnie Lee Coley-Jones. She was educated at R. L. Brown in Jacksonville, Florida, and at Mary Fleming High School, but she graduated from West Laurens High School. Ms. Jones gave her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. After graduation, Sandra joined the United States Navy where she earned an honorable discharge. She has been a dedicated member of New Providence Baptist Church since 1961. She served the community in various ways including helping at the concession stands and at the statistics boards at basketball games, and she was a cancer walk participant. She was a beautiful and dependable caregiver for the family and community and she was a member of the committee for the Mary Fleming High School Reunion.
Ms. Jones exhibited a strong work ethics that she received from her parents, as she believed in the completion of any task placed before her. She strongly believed in educational opportunities for youth. She aided her nieces and nephews in the pursuit of a good education. Her hobbies were traveling to various church events, watching basketball games and collecting collectors’ items. Ms Jones loved her family dearly as demonstrated by her sacrifices.
Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest daughter, Shonna, four brothers, Tarron, Leon, Lynn, and Clifton, and sister, Lois. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Charity Etheridge, Atlanta, Alexandria Etheridge, Rentz, her siblings, Jerman (Joan) Dixon, Atlanta ,Frank, (Wanda) Jones, Jr., Douglasville, Freddie (Gloria Jean) Jones, Rentz, Marilynn (Gerald) Hobbs, Fayetteville, Angela Blue, Macon, and Clayton Jones, Sr., Cadwell, her aunts, Pinkie Lee Dixon, Jacksonville, Florida, Annie Maude Edmond, Rentz, and Birdie Mae Taylor, Jacksonville, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Chris and Fleta Council, 3121 Fountain Road in Cadwell, and on Friday, April 13, 6-7 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home.
