Samuel Hamon

Samuel Lee Carl Hamon, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, quietly left this phase of life April 13, 2014.

Sam was born to Mildred Patricia Anne (Pruden) Hamon and Trevor Clarke Hamon on October 13, 1966 in Calgary, Alberta.

He was a spectacular spirit housed in a delicate little body. He was blessed to defy the odds and withstand health limitations to touch and bless the lives of his parents, his nine siblings and all who knew him.

They moved to Glenwood, Alberta in 1977. After Sam's beloved mother passed away in 1985, his dad married Marlene Laboucane and Sam had a "new mom" and even more family. He loved them completely and they loved him back.

Through his life, Sam spent time with other families when he was away from home for school; Harold and Amy Woodruff, George and Sharon Goldie and Sarai Duffy. They remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Sam had a remarkable memory for people and everyone who gave him a smile became his friend forever. His family was often surprised by the people who would greet them at church, in a restaurant or store saying, "Hi, Sam!"

Sam began work at Rehoboth in Coaldale over 25 years ago. He loved Alex Hahn and the staff and co-workers he had there. He began the Rehoboth retirement program a couple of years before he passed.

Sam loved serving as an assistant to the Primary Secretary in the Coaldale Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to sing, "I am a Child of God" and "Joseph Smith's First Prayer." He loved his Home Teachers over the years who were diligent in visiting him at home and taking him to church.

Sam knew that life does not end with physical death. He looked forward to one day being reunited with his mom and Bryan and grandparents. He loves the Lord and his Heavenly Father and has served them in ways no one else could, fulfilling a unique and very special mission to be a reminder that our God is a God of miracles and love. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Sam is pre-deceased by his brother Bryan Hamon in 1976 and his mother Mildred Patricia Anne Pruden Hamon in 1985. He is survived by his father, Trevor Clarke Hamon, mom Marlene Church Hamon; siblings Trevor W. (Nina) Hamon, Raymond; Edie (Jerry) Jarvis, Raymond; Alan (Janet) Hamon, (Claresholm) Dan (Kelly) Hamon, (Nevada); Miri (Chuck) Evans, Alabama; Darlene (Bob) Livingston, Whiskey Gap; Jonathan (Alice) Hamon, Calgary; Lorena (Brent) Rodgers, Magrath; Jerry (Linda) Stocking, Utah; Gaydena (Larry) Smith, Idaho; Yolanda (Garn) Kunder, Utah, Hyrum Stocking, Utah; Ian (Brenda) LaBoucane, Utah. He is also loved and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins.

Sam's funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glenwood, Alberta on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. He will be buried in the Glenwood Cemetery next to his mother.
