Sammy Gebara, 62, from Eden, Texas went home to heaven after a long fought battle with cancer at 5:45p.m. on October 5, 2013, at Shannon hospital.

Sammy was born on July 16, 1951, in Eden, Texas to Christina and the late Sam Gebara. On June 26, 1971, he married Josephine Soliz and made their home in their hometown of Eden, Texas. Sammy worked as a rancher, alongside his dad during his younger years, and he worked for the Highway Department for 30 years and retired February of 2008. Sammy loved hunting, fishing, and ranch life. His most favorite thing though was spending time with his grandchildren who were his life. He had many lifelong friends that also meant the world to him as well.

Sammy is survived by his wife Josephine Gebara; daughters Yolanda Torres and spouse Roger Torres of San Angelo, Melinda Browne and spouse Wade Browne of Ingleside, and Vanessa Flores and spouse Manuel Flores also of San Angelo. He has 8 grandchildren: Auden Torres, Rylan Torres, Danella Browne, Samuel Browne, Tyler Browne, Garrett Browne, Ryan Brown, and Deven Browne. He is also survived by his mother Christina Gebara and siblings Linda Reyes and Anita Aguilar. He also is survived by his nieces Teresa Ruiz, Prisicilla Saiz, and Roxy Reyes and many cousins.

Rosary will be held on October 7, 2013 at 7:00pm at the Eden Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday October 8, 2013, at St. Charles Catholic Church with graveside service following at The Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Castro, Marcello Hernandez, Sam Castanuela, Antonio Aguilar, Larry Reed, and Steve Elizondo. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bur Agnew, Vincent Mullins, John Watkins, Robert Soliz, Danny Soliz, and Joe Soliz.

He is preceded in death by his father Sam Gebara and brother Tomas Jaime Gebara.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Concho County Cancer Committee, or Odyssey Hospice Care in remembrance of Sammy Gebara. Thank you to all that loved him, called, visited, and prayed for him during this fight. A special thank you to his doctors: Dr. Cummings, Dr. Cargile, Dr. Jastrow, Odyssey Hospice, and Shannon Hospital for taking such great care of him through this fight with cancer.
