Ruth Fay Snedden, 83, of Lawson, MO, passed away January 28, 2016.

Ruth was born February 12, 1932, in Higginsville, MO, to Clyde & Louise (Fizer) Bayless.

She married Robert Snedden on May 12, 1948.

Ruth was engaged in the community and was a member of Salem Christian Union Church. Throughout her life Ruth was sought out for her knowledge in farming, most notably for her expertise in raising sheep. Ruth was awarded the Lloyd Alexander Distinguished Service Award in 2000 by the Missouri Sheep Producers Organization and the Missouri Sheep Industry. Among many notable traits, Ruth’s culinary skills were legendary, her fried chicken and chocolate pie will be greatly missed. Her care, compassion, and sense of humor shall live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Snedden of the home; son, Ronald Snedden & wife Cheryl of Warsaw, MO, daughter, Carol Madsen of St. Joseph, MO, son, Bruce Snedden & wife Lisa of Lawson, MO, and son, Kevin & wife Christine of Kearney, MO; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty Jo Morris, Janie Terry, Maggie Barresi, David Bayless, Jim Bayless, and Paul Bayless.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde & Louise Bayless; daughter, Katherine Heitmann; brothers, Calvin Bayless, Cecil Bayless and Buford Bayless.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Friday, February 5, 2016 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, Kearney, MO.

A second visitation will be held at 10-11 a.m. Saturday, February 6, to be followed by a funeral service at Salem Christian Union Church, Excelsior Springs, MO. Burial in Salem Christian Union Cemetery.
