PRIVATE Funeral service for 84 Mr. Rufus Hamilton of Clarksville, TX who went to be with his Lord, January 9, 2022 at Clarksville Nursing Center, Clarksville, TX, will be January 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at Citizens Funeral Home Chapel, 500 E. Church Street, Clarksville, TX with Dr. L.E. Cole officiating. Interment will be in Thompson Townes Cemetery, Clarksville, TX

Rufus Hamilton was born December 30, 1937 to Ruth and WC Hamilton in Clarksville, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Martin Shiloh Baptist Church. He attended Cheatham Schools in Clarksville, TX,

After attending Texas A&M University-Commerce, Rufus became a policeman for the City of Clarksville, Texas. He became the first African American policeman in Clarksville.

He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved all.
