Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruby Beard, 93, of Dublin, will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 2 PM at the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 494 Evergreen Road, Dublin. Reverend Winfred McCloud will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Church Cemetery, Dublin.

Mrs. Beard was born April 18, 1921. She departed this life on October 6, 2014. She was the daughter of George and Maude Butler Whipple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Beard, and two sisters, Minnie Bell Whipple Allen and Essie Mae Whipple Carr Wright.

Mrs. Beard accepted Christ at an early age and united with Rock Creek Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Leo Beard and soon after marriage she joined Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church; where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the senior choir and other auxiliaries of the church. She attended Laurens County public schools and was a graduate of cosmetology school. Ruby was a licensed Beautician, and owned her salon on Evergreen Road for many years.

Mrs. Beard leaves to cherish her memories one brother, Joseph Whipple Sr.; two sisters-in-laws, Piccola B. Anderson and Rheba B. Bryant; two brothers-in-laws, Tommie Beard and Ralph (Doris) Beard; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Mrs. Beard will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Dudley Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Ruby Beard.
