SMYRNA -- Ronald Hood Mitchell, 64, of 7184 Hwy 97 died Monday, January 13, 2014, at Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Canaan United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Canaan U.M.C. Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
Ronald was a son of the late Luther Hood Mitchell and Reba Neely Mitchell. He was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church.
He worked at The Timken Co. in Gaffney for 41 years and he served the Smyrna Volunteer Fire Dept. as Chief from 1981-1986.
He is survived by wife Sandra Ramsey Mitchell, 2 sons Joseph Mitchell (Courtney), Michael Mitchell (Katie), 5 grandsons Clint, Eric, Austin, Mason, Luke, sisters Janice Bankhead, Teresa Hall, and brother Eddie Mitchell and his beloved cat Smokey.
