Funeral services for Mrs. Robertha Newton, 78, of East Dublin, will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Buckeye Baptist Church at 2176 New Buckeye Road in East Dublin. Reverend David Flowers will officiate. Mrs. Newton who passed away on June 24, 2012 was born August 20, 1933 in Dublin. She outlived her parents, Mr. Herman Montford, Sr. and Mrs. Gertrude Montford. She was educated in Laurens County. She receieved her associates degree in Secretary Science in Miami, Florida. Later she moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey where she worked as a waitress. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida after four years she retired and returned home to Dublin. Mrs. Newton joined Buckeye Baptist Church at an early age. She was united in holy matrimony to Willie C. Newton. They had one son whom she outlived, Marcus Newton. She also outlived three brothers, Orlanda Montford, Celester Montford and J.T. Montford and one sister, Sally Mae Walker. Her memories will forever be cherished by her siblings, Betty Haddock Miami, FL, Ruth (Merrill) Joseph, Dublin, Orletha Johnson, Dublin, Clifford (Kim) Montford, Plainfield, New Jersey, Herman Jr. (Dora) Montford, Lizella; two devoted nieces, Darlene Taylor and Vickie Johnson and a host of other caring nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
