Robert Udell

Bob was one of three boys and four girls born to Helen and Dean Udell in the city of Lehi, Utah. He grew into an intimidating young man due to good genes and also because of employment as a hod tender for a squad of brick layers. Anyone who dared to get to know him quickly realized he was one of the most giving, kind, and gentle persons to roam the earth. In high school, he enjoyed playing football and he was instrumental in organizing the first wrestling team at Lehi High. He met June Rhone on a blind date and it was love at first sight. They were married for the duration of this life in 1959 then had their vows upgraded to time and all eternity the following year in the Salt Lake Temple. Not to be outdone by his own mother, they also brought seven children into this world. He is survived by June, his wife of 52 years, children Rhone and wife Janet Udell, Sarah Waldes, Marti and partner Richard Wright, Rachael and partner Chell Myer, Michael and partner Jake Bush, Matt and wife Missy, Topher and partner Josh Bolinger. Sisters Lola Yardon, Cheri Robinson, Kris Evans, and Kathy McCarrie. Brother Kent Udell. Predeceased by brother Leonard 'Gus' Udell. 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Over the years he has been employed in the construction industry, worked in a machine shop as a welder, and retired from Anexter as a supervisor. He has always had some kind of hobby to entertain himself including archery and photography. In addition to June, his other loves include travel to other countries, classical and jazz music, and the great outdoors where he has led family and scout groups on numerous camp outs. In October of 2010 Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Rather than spend his remaining time in doctors offices and recovering from therapies, he chose to relish the rest of his life with as much gusto as possible . Immediately after getting the bad news, he bought and remodeled the house next door, then hosted a continuous flow of friends and family. There will be a memorial to celebrate his life on September 24, 2011. Those wishing to attend should meet at the Bernina Chapel located in Taylorsville Utah at 3045 West Bernina Drive. --1:00 p.m.--. Dress need not include suit and ties and if you stay for sustenance, the menu will not include Jello, ham, or funeral potatoes. :)
