Funeral services for Mr. Robert Ricks Sr., 68, of Dudley, will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Dudley Baptist Church, 1425 Second Street, in Dudley, Georgia. Pastor Daryl Howard will officiate. Interment will follow at Kurtz Cemetery in Montrose.

Mr. Ricks was born in Macon, Georgia, to R. L. and Oderis Clark. Mr. Ricks met his soulmate and wife of 45 years, Caldron Vickers, while working as a security guard at Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon, Georgia. They had six children, Dexter (Andrea) Ricks of Milledgeville, the late Robert Ricks Jr., Kimberly Ricks and Shernette Ricks of Dudley, Marcus Ricks of Statesboro, and Casey Ricks of Charolette, North Carolina.

Mr. Ricks worked as a mechanic for years, but his passion was coaching. Coach Ricks worked with hundreds of young people in his 20 years of coaching in Dudley. He coached baseball, softball, football, and basketball, until 1993 when he suffered stroke on the field.

In addition to his wife and children, he leaves one brother, Ronnie Clark, four sisters, Ruth (Johnny) Bryant, Dorothy (Frank) Jackson of Macon, Barbara Jean Stephens and Jeanette Shepard of Los Angeles, California, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
