Robert Chase

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Chase, of Dublin, will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015, at 11 AM at the Saint Peters Baptist Church, 912 Martin Luther King Junior Drive in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Eastman Cemetery on Oak Street in Eastman. Reverend Shawn Curtis will officiate.

Mr. Chase, who passed on January 12, 2015, was born on February 2, 1941, to the late Madison Chase and Hester Johns in Cambridge, Maryland. He graduated from the Maces Lane High School in Cambridge, Maryland, in the Class of 1959, and after graduation, he joined the United States Army and served from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he met his wife of fifty years, Louise Sykes. They were married in 1965. In 1967, he joined the Philadelphia Police Department where he served with valor until 1999. He later relocated to Dublin.

He was a dedicated husband, father, uncle and brother. Mr. Chase served as president of the NAACP Painesville Ohio Chapter. He also served on the Civil City Commission and for Habitat for Humanity.

He enjoyed running, basketball, football and working in his yard. He also enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and helping anyone he could possibly help. Mr. Chase loved the Lord.

Mr. Chase is survived by his loving wife, Louise Sykes Chase; two children, Robert Mark Chase of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lamar Sherwood Chase of Wickliffe, Ohio; grandchildren, Jordan, Savannah, Sierra, Sydney, Christian and Jayden Crites; sisters, Eloise Chase Johnson, Mary Chase; brother, Russell Chase all of Cambridge, Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

The family will receive friends at 912 Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive in Dublin and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Thursday, 6-8 PM.
