Richard Moore
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Rogers Moore, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 11 AM at the Saint Paul AME Church, 308 Rowe Street in Dublin. Pastor Leon Smith will officiate.
Mr. Moore was born on May 11, 1945, to the late John Moore of Daytona, Florida, and Mrs. Doretha Walden-Lewis of Dublin. Mr. Moore made his heavenly transition on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Serenity Hospice. At an early age, Mr. Moore moved to Rentz, and was reared by his grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Roman (Lottie) Walden. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a brother Charlie H. Robinson, Sr.
Mr. Moore graduated from Mary Fleming High School and attended Fort Valley State College and Brewton-Parker College. While serving in the United States Air Force, Mr. Moore received a bachelors degree from Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts. He also earned a masters degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Moore retired from the Small Business Administration in Oklahoma, where he served as a minority business specialist.
For the past eleven years, Mr. Moore has been a loyal and dependable member of the Saint Paul AME Church in Dublin where he served faithfully as a member of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Stewards, past president of the Sons of Allen, and was the former Eastern District Vice Chairman of the Sons of Allen, until his health declined. His other affiliations included membership in the Prince Hall Masons, the Eastern Star, the Shriners, and he was a 32 Degree Mason. Mr. Moore also served as the past High Priest of the Holy Royal Arch Masons.
Mr. Moore leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Sita Moore, Dublin, two sons, Richard of New York City, New York and Maurice (Dondria) of Denton, Texas, three step-children, LaTonya (Joel) Porter, Harry (Tsai-chin) and LaLinda Harrison, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Moore is also affectionately known as “Grandpa” by Whitley and Sydney Harrison and Brooklyn Porter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a stepbrother, Vernon Burton, Lake Helen, Florida, and a devoted nephew, Reverend Charlie Robinson, Dublin and a host of cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Moores' home, 313 Eleanor Drive in Dublin.
