Funeral services for Mr. Richard Lee Abrams, Sr., of Wrightsville, Georgia, will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 1 PM, at the Neeler Chapel A.M.E. Church, 88 South Valley Street in Wrightsville. Reverend Nathaniel Lemon will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Cypress Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Abrams was born on January 23, 1931, to the late Huey Abrams and Mae Bell Sanders. Known as “The Deacon" by most of his family members, Mr. Richard Lee Abrams, Sr., joined the United States Army at an early age and served his country well. On July 11, 1964, he was united in holy matrimony to his sweetheart, Tommie Mae Linder. Anyone who knew Mr. Abrams would agree that he was a free spirit and full of life and joy. Mr. Abrams loved to sing and had a way of getting the congregation excited about the Lord. Early on March 29, 2018, God called him from labor to reward.



Mr. Abrams leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Mrs. Tommie Mae Abrams of Wrightsville, six daughters, Rochelle (Thurman) Mason, Copperas Cove, Texas, Margaret Abrams, Wrightsville, twins, Sonya (Moses) Cason, Wrightsville, and Tonya (Chester) Rogers, Columbia, South Carolina, Rosalind Abrams, Savannah, Maevonia (Robert) Jackson, Lady Lake, Florida, Richard Lee Abrams, Jr., Los Angeles, California, a loving stepmother, Fleta Abrams Jenkins, two brothers, Ross M. Abrams and Shedrick M. Abrams, both of Wrightsville, four sisters-in-law, Diane Bivins, Sandersville, Dorothy (Willie) Taylor, Karen Strudwick, Catherine Dickerson, all of Wrightsville, three brothers-in-law, Johnny B. Linder, Williamstown, New Jersey, Willie B. Linder (Annie Cora), Terry Linder, all of Wrightsville, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 87 Chester Street in Wrightsville.
