Funeral service for Mrs. Rezell Scales Jones 102 years old of Clarksville, TX, who went to be with her Lord, January 31, 2022 in Medical City Denton, Denton, Texas, will be February 5, 2022, at 11:00 am at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Arthur Jefferson, officiating and eulogist. Interment will be in Annona Cemetery, Annona, TX

Viewing will be Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Citizens Funeral Home Chapel.

Rezell Scales Jones was born on July 24, 1919 to Riley Scales and Nora Justice Scales and was the 12th child out of 16 siblings.

Rezell gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Annona, Texas and later she moved her membership to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Clarksville, Texas.

In 1926 Rezell began her education and attended classes at Garland Temple School in Peter Prairie, Texas.

In 1934 she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Luther Jones and to this union 6 children were born. In 1935 the first child Hubert Scales was born, and then in 1940 Luther Jones, 1945 Alford Jones, 1943 Doris Jones, 1948 Jerry Jones, and in 1950 Martha (Jones) McPeters.

She left a legacy of 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild, along with her faithful God daughter, Lynnell Scales.

Rezell has served as the member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over two decades. She always loved taking care of her grandchildren while also making time to care for the elders. In her spare time she loved fishing, sewing, and cooking. When asked why did she get to live so long, Mother Rezell would simply respond, “I don’t know, you should ask God why he kept me here so long” The only advice she would give us is; “Have faith, be humble, obey the Word, put God first, and keep God in your heart. Always remember to do unto others as you want others to do unto you. Believe in the words of the Bible and you will only focus on the mission that God has in store for you”
