On the morning of August 13, 2013, God’s angels came into the room and took the breath of Raymond Harold Parker and with chilling fingers sealed his lips. Raymond’s soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow, and pain to a place of eternal life.
Raymond was born on December 5, 1952 to Neal and Lucille Parker and both preceded him in death. One brother Willie Lee Parker, Sister Ouida M. Harmon, Sister Carol A. Hervey, and grandmother Polly Neighbors also preceded him in death.
Raymond became a Christian when he was quite a young man and joined Oak Ridge Missionary Church under the leadership of Pastor Napoleon Cooper. He gave freely of his time and was always willing to do anything that he felt would help for a good cause. Raymond was a 1971 graduate of DeKalb High School in DeKalb, TX.
Raymond was member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. While in the Army, he received a National Defense Service Medal: Marksman (Rifle). He also served a tour in Germany.
After serving his time in the military, he went to work at Red River Army Depot where he worked as a security guard and a mechanic. He retired after twenty-eight years.
Raymond was a very intelligent and a well- informed man. He attended Texarkana College and studied Criminal Law for a few years. As a result, he was able to help many friends and relatives obtain jobs and financial gain. Because of this knowledge and being a Veteran himself, he was able to assist others with their needs. “Boody” was a very loving, kind and giving person. Anyone that had the opportunity to meet him and just be in his presence was blessed. He loved to play dominoes, share time with his friends. He loved to cook and just share what he had with others. He loved listing to music, all music. Some of his favorite artist was the Williams Brothers and Marvin Sapp. His favorite was Never would have made it.
