Mrs. Penny Sue Gainey-Edmond was born on October 23, 1961, in Dublin, Georgia, to the late Tobie Lee and Ruby J. Gainey. Prior to graduating from West Laurens High School, Penny was a member of the color guard team land was employed at Hardees Restaurant. She later moved to Kissimmee, Florida, which became her home for forty years. Penny was the ‘Jill of all trades’. She worked for the Florida Department of Transportation and Osceola County School District as a bus driver.

She was a person that always wanted to keep her family together. Family gatherings were very important to her. Penny was also a mother to many, both in and out of her home. When it came to the children, she “DID NOT PLAY!” You could catch her watching World Wrestling Entertainment on Mondays, and prepping for Friday and Saturday football games. However, being in the presence, along with supporting her grandchildren, mattered the most.

Penny was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. church. She did not mind collecting donations from anyone that passed by her home to support the church’s good cause. One thing she made sure to do was to be home early on Saturday evenings to prepare for Sunday morning services. She loved singing in the choir, attending bible study, ushering, and helping to serve her community.

On the evening of March 3, 2020, God whispered in Penny’s ear, “Well done my faithful servant your work here is done.” Surrounded by her family, she peacefully slipped away to enter her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Emmett and Emma Gainey, maternal grandparents, Robert Jordan and Hattie Hogan, three siblings, Emory Gainey, Shirley (Marvin) Truitt, both of Georgia, Hattie Mae (David) Montgomery of Louisiana, mother-in-law, Annie Bell Story of Florida, brother-in-law, Lonnie Knight.
