Peggy Grounds
Peggy Jean Stephenson Grounds, 88, of Paint Rock, Texas, died in a local nursing home in Ballinger Texas on Monday June 24, 2013, after a long battle with COPD. She was born on Aug. 29, 1924. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Elmo (Bo), her parents, Burton and Prunella Stephenson, and her brother Roy Jackson Stephenson. Peggy attended school at Millersview where she met the love of her life, Elmo. Their life together was meant to be as he told her daddy that he wanted to marry his daughter Peggy. This was in the second grade. They were married on Nov. 23, 1940 and lived a wonderful 67 years together until his death in 2007. She lived in Millersview until 1964 when the family moved to Paint Rock where Elmo managed the Paint Rock Feed Yard and served as County Commissioner. She spent several years working at the Paint Rock Dry Goods Store until its closure. She (MaBo) spent her remaining years loving and teaching her three grandchildren the special things of life that only she knew. She is survived by her daughter and husband Mona and Larry White and her son and wife, Steve and Beth Grounds all of Millersview and grandchildren Stephanie Grounds of San Antonio, Eric White of Arlington, L.D. White and wife Cindy and great-grandchildren, Joey and Lyndee of Madisonville. Thanks to all in Paint Rock who have helped her since Elmo passed away. Francis, Larry, and Janice are just a few who made her life feel special.
Special thanks go out to Central Texas Nursing and Rehab in Ballinger for their loving care shown to Peggy during her last days. Billie and Cindy will always have a place in our hearts for the care and concern they showed during this time. They truly are special people. Ballinger Home Health also provided support for Peggy during the many years of her illness. They too were special to her in so many ways.
