Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Ruth Coney, of East Dublin, will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 11 AM, at the Christ Deliverance Temple at 403 East Garner Street in Dublin. Bishop Otha Stanley will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Church Cemetery.

Peggy Ruth Plummer was born on February 14, 1953, in Laurens County, Georgia, as the daughter of William M. Plummer and Marie G. Plummer. She attended the B. D. Perry School and graduated from East Laurens High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Albany State College. She was a member of the New Bethel AME Church where she served on the usher board and the Mamie Plummer Women’s Missionary Society. She married Mr. Cornell Coney on March 16, 1980. She retired from Community Mental Health after 33 years where she worked as Program Manager and DD Day Services Coordinator. Mrs. Coney departed this life on Friday, February 28, 2020.

Mrs. Coney was preceded in death by her husband, Cornell Coney, parents, William and Marie Plummer, her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Rosie Guyton, paternal grandparents, Willis and Rosa Plummer, and by a brother, Johnny E. Plummer.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Chris (Twantina Carr) Plummer, Marie (Patrich) Jones, Summer (Quinton) Edwards, three stepsons, Rico (Trina) Coney, Keith Coney, and Vic Coney of Dublin, thee devoted sisters, Brenda Plummer, Rosetta (Ezekiel) Hudson, and Brenda Williams, all of Dublin; and three devoted brothers, Willis (Renita) Plummer, Sr., Sylvester (Shirley) Plummer, and Sebastian Williams, all of Dublin, 21 grandchildren, a great-grandson, brothers and sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Plummer of Augusta, Louise Coney, Bill Coney of Dublin, Bessie Fredrick, Aldora Beard, and Doreen Carswell of Miami, Florida, Inez Landers of Sandersville, and Annie McDonald of West Palm Beach Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
