Funeral services for Deacon Ostell James, Sr., 79, of Dublin, will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the Holly Springs Baptist Church, Inc., 2345 Buckeye Road, East Dublin, Georgia. Pastor E. Neal Dixon will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Deacon Ostell James was born on April 26, 1938, in Laurens County, Georgia and was a lifelong resident of Dublin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar James and Annie Lou Lattimore James, a son, William Marion Myricks, three brothers, Otis James, Sr., R. W. James, Sr., Willie Lee James, and one sister, Eloise Martin.

Brother James was born into the body of Christ and openly acknowledged believing in Jesus by becoming a member of the Holly Springs A. B. Church, Inc. where he later became a deacon. After serving over 40 years as Co-Chairman at the church, he was committed to fulfilling this position up unto his declining health conditions.

Deacon James attended the Buckeye School and as an adult worked at P. M. Watson which later became known as Regional Mendis Recycle where he worked as a welder for 38 years until his retirement. He was a very quiet and fun-loving person who loved to sing, play the guitar and ride his motorcycle. Deacon James entered his eternal rest on Friday afternoon on December 29, 2017.

Deacon Ostell James, Sr., leaves his love and cherished memories with his loving wife, Mary Myricks James, a son, Ostell (Connie) James, Jr., two daughters, Carlene (Al) Myricks, Ivory (Mack) Jones all of Dublin, 11 grandchildren, Christian James of Atlanta, Shantaya Dudley, Africa Myricks, Sheena Myricks, all of Dublin, Bisa Cunningham of Washington, DC, Kelvin Nottingham of Dublin, Fredrick (Daisy) Coady of Dublin,, Terreance Norris of Atlanta, Melissa (Mark) Cooper, Shannon Jones, Dana Herrington, all of Dublin, 19 great grandchildren, a brother, Matthew James of Jacksonville, Forida; three sisters-in-law, Willie Maude James, Juanita Myricks and Mamie Burney, all of Dublin, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at 13 Hester Drive, Dublin. The funeral procession will leave from 313 Grey Street on Wednesday at 10:15 AM.
