Ola (Iola) Mae Grant Murph Williams was born on August 28, 1929, and departed this earth on August 23, 2011 at the Rich Square Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was a long time resident of Potecasi and had lived early in her married life in Baltimore, Maryland; Virginia, and South Carolina.She was the daughter of the late John Luther and Juanita (Mayfield) Grant. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Murph and Ralph Deloatch; her brothers James and Wallace Grant, her sister Dorothy Grant, her daughter Iola Murph Bowser, and her grandson Darren Murph. She is survived by her children Loris Epps of Agawam, MA, Edward Murph of Rich Square, John Murph, his wife Connie, and Loretta Boyce and her husband of Potecasi, NC. Her grandchildren: Anade Long Jacobs, Conrad Murph, Jermaine Murph, and Vannesa Boyce. She has 9 great grandchildren. She leaves her brothers Lloyd Grant of Murfressboro, Arthur Grant of Rich Square, Melvin Grant and John Grant of Potecasi, and a sister Elna Grant Farmer of Durham; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.She was a long-time member of Jerusalem and used to love to sing in the choir and attend Sunday school. She was also a long-time member of the Homemakers Club. She loved flowers and was often heard stating “give me my flowers while I am living.” Sewing, canning, gardening, and furniture refinishing was crafts that she loved to do. Many people would stop by to admire and love her flower gardens and she often could be seen working in her flower garden. She loved to help others in the community.The family wants to thank the caregivers at Rich Square Health Care Center, Roanoke Chowan Hospital ICU, and her favorite doctor, Dr. Frie.Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 27,2011 at 1:oo pm at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Woodland, NC internment will follow at the Grant Estate in Potecasi, N.C.
