Funeral services for Ms. Nelia Mae Hurst, of Dublin, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 4195 W. Highway 80, Montrose. Dr. C. L. Cason and Reverend Phillip Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Hurst, who passed on October 11, 2015, was born to the late Jimmy Hurst and the late Berta Godfrey on March 15, 1921. Sister Hurst accepted Christ with the Byrd Hill Baptist Church and later continued to serve as a faithful member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Montrose in many capacities including as the president of the usher board and in the choir. She especially enjoyed gardening, helping others, and spending time with her family. She retired from the Evans Cabinet Company where she served as department supervisor.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Barbara Watkins, and by four brothers, Virgil Watkins, J. C. Hurst, Willie Hurst, and T. Curley Godfrey. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Roberta Knight of Dublin, two grandchildren whom she reared as her own, Mrs. Claudia (Lee) Wright of Dudley, and Dr. Jacqueline K. Copenny of Dublin, four great-grandchildren, Ms. Pamela Knight of Dublin, Mr. McKinley Wright of Dudley, Ms. NaShanta Wright of Dudley, and Mr. Dav’El Copenny of Macon, two great great-grandchildren, Ms. LaKay Wright and Ms. NaKinley Wright, both of Dudley, her sisters, Mrs. Gladys (Stephen) Willis of New Britain, Connecticut, and Mrs. Betty (John) Parker of Bonaire, two nephews, Mr. Mahrlon (Winfred) Willis of Vernon, Connecticut and Mr. Bryan Willis of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a host of cherished cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jacqueline Copenny, 304 Barfield Drive, Dublin.
