Nathan Pearson

Funeral services for Nathan Ethridge Pearson, Jr., M.D., will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at 3 PM at the Saint Paul AME Church, 308 Rowe Street in Dublin. Bishop Tim Chatman will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at the church at 2 PM.

Dr. Pearson was born on February 18, 1948, in Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, to the late Nathan Ethridge Pearson, Sr., and the late Dorothy Lampkin Pearson. In 1957, the family relocated to Dublin, Georgia, where Dr. Pearson graduated from the Oconee High School. He attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama where he earned his bachelors degree. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. As an officer in the United States Army, he served in the Asia Pacific region. He returned to the States in 1979 and relocated to Detroit where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Wayne State University Medical Center. He was engaged in the private practice of Internal Medicine until his death. Dr. Pearson passed away on May 12, 2015, in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his companion of many years, Donna Louise Smith, and by his brother, Jerome Virgil Pearson, M.D.

Survivors include his aunts, Iona Lampkin Ash of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, Lillian Lampkin Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Hattie F. Lampkin of Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, Dorothy Stuckey Pearson of Dublin, Georgia, Lavesta Pearson Rutland of Atlanta, Georgia, Mamie Pearson Jordan of Kansas City, Missouri, and Joyce Pearson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, an uncle, Alfred O. Pearson, Sr., of Dublin, Georgia, and many cousins, other relatives and friends. He also leaves special friends, Melvin (Wanda) Murphy, M.D., of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Cheryl (Carlton) Pace of Detroit, Michigan, and Randall (Laurene) O’Neal of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
