Milton Baker

MILTON EARL BAKER, age 68 of Clarksville, passed away on Wednesday October 16, 2013 in Cypress, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 26, at the Zion Traveler Baptist Church in Clarksville, with Church Pastor, Rev. P.A. Porchia officiating. Burial will follow in Fairground Cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Citizens Funeral Home, 500 E. Church Street of Clarksville.
The Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Citizens Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Baker was born September 18, 1945 in Annona, Texas to proud parents Charlie and Cora Gamble Baker. He graduated from Cheatham High School in 1964.
On June 24, 1967 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jo Juanita Duty. The couple was blessed with 46 loved filled years of happiness together, and through that union they were fortunate to receive the blessing of a beautiful daughter, DaNita Baker.
Mr. Baker was truly a faithful and spirit filled member of the Zion Traveler Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, member of the mass choir and male chorus, and where he attended Sunday school class over the years.
He was an outstanding athlete at the old Cheatham High School in Clarksville where he served as varsity football quarterback. He was an tremendous sports fan who loved watching Dallas Cowboys football as well as other sporting events. Mr. Baker also loved supporting the Clarksville High School football and basketball programs through his attendance at games.
He was well known in the Clarksville community as a friendly person with a kind heart, and who had a willingness to help others whenever possible.
Proceeding him in death were his parents Charlie and Cora Gamble Baker; three sisters, Essie Smith, Sharlene Edwards, and Thelma Turner. He was also proceeded in death by four brothers; Henry Baker, Bobbie Baker, Earnest Baker, and Willie Baker.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a devoted and loving wife of 46 years, Jo Juanita Baker of Clarksville; one daughter, DaNita Baker of Cypress, Texas; four sisters, Lillie Mae Williams, Mary Hayes of Clarksville, Jo Ann Murphy, Madera, CA and Evelyn Quarshie, Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
