Millie Virginia Poe was born to the late Albert and Beulah Jenkins on July 14, 1948, in the Cherry community of Clarksville, Texas. She began her Christian journey at an early age by joining St. Paul United Methodist Church and continued the journey at Sandre Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Millie’s education began in a small school in the Cherry community until the age of ten when all students at that time transferred to Cheatham Elementary. During her high school years at Cheatham High, she participated in the band, and other high school activities. She graduated from Cheatham high school in May of 1966. After graduation from high school, she moved to Dallas TX and worked for Texas Instruments and Abbott lab for a number of years. She gained many certificates for her training and skills as a machinist until retirement.

While living and working in Dallas, Millie met her soulmate Willie John Poe who proceeded her in death.

Mille, affectionally known by everyone as “Baby Sister,” was the life of any gathering. If you heard a loud voice, you knew she was in the room. Her unique style of storytelling made even the most unbelievable stories entertaining. Millie was a kind and loving person and never met a stranger. Although she had no children, she loved being the mother figure to her niece Chris, nephew Ben, and her nephew Rich who proceeded her in death. She also loved and cared for her special friends children and grandchildren.

Millie’s earthly travel ended on February 01, 2022. She was loved by all who came into contact with her and will be greatly missed.

Millie is survived by three sisters: Jacqueline Jenkins, Alderene “Dean” Bowers and Mittie J. Dunn all of Dallas TX; a niece Belanger Chris Jenkins; a nephew Daytri Desmond “Ben” Jenkins; and great nephew Joshua Rich Dunn and a host of cousins and friends.
