She was married to the late John Dixon and later moved to Macon, Georgia, where she lived for many years. She was a member of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Macon. Although Mildred did not have any children, she was surrounded by genuine love from devoted nieces, nephews, godson, goddaughter and devoted friends from Macon, Georgia. Wanda and Clee spent many years taking care of Mildred as children would. Affectionately known as “Big Sister”, “Aunt Moon” and “B Sister”, she had a heart of gold. She was willing to do anything she could to help her brothers and sisters, and others, in their of need. She truly loved the Lord and did not mind praising and talking about the goodness of Jesus with anyone. She also loved the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as her favorite pastime.
In September of 2017, her health started to decline. Her devoted nephew and niece, Pastor Curtis and Kim Blair, out of the goodness of their hearts, made the decision for her to be closer to them to take care of her. God blessed her to live to see the age of 100.
