Miguel "Mike" Hernandez, 63, of Eden passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in Eden. Rosary is 6 p.m. Friday. October 19, 2012 at Eden Funeral Home Chapel. Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. Charles Catholic Church with burial in Eden Cemetery. Officiating is Father Yesu. Pallbearers are Frank McCormick, Antonio Aguilar, Eric Gonzales, Alex Castanuela, Larry Reed and Alvaro Trejo. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Elosia Hernandez. He is survived by his wife, of forty-one years, Susan, four daughters and three sons: Monica and Daniel of Midland, Sonja and Donald of Killeen, Melissa of Eden, Blanca and Alfred of Abilene, Simon of Lamesa, Steve and Alexandra of San Angelo and Anselmo and Leticia of San Angelo. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Alfredo and Petra of San Angelo, Thomosa, Clara, and Tina and Gumesindo of Lamesa. He survived with 27 beautiful grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. Mike was born September 29,1949 in Kennedy, Texas. He was also known as “Big Mike” and “Gorilla” to friends and family. He was a farmer and rancher for many years until he became ill and disabled. He loved spending his time with the grand kids watching cartoons and monster movies. The great outdoors was what he enjoyed. He loved going fishing, making perch traps and making his own jewelry. Wednesdays he enjoyed going to Sam’s Place to hang out with his friends and family. Remember him by his big heart and big smile. Release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love and you can only guess, How much you gave me happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But know it’s time I traveled on alone…When you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say, “welcome home”.
