Melvin Marion

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Marion, of Dublin, will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015, at 11 AM in the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home. Reverend Jamie Paulk will officiate. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Mr. Marion, who passed on May 16, 2015, was born on September 16, 1937, to the late George and Maybelle Marion. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ophelia Scott, Lucille Moody, Ethel Tillman and Alma Harding.

Mr. Marion was a resident of Laurens County and he was employee of Lifetime Gate Company, Spivey Landscaping Company and of Dublin Cab Company. He served in the United States Air Force from October 1954 to September 1957.

Mr. Marion is survived by his loving wife, Janie G. Marion; children, John Benjamin Cannon, San Diego, California, Marty (Laney) Marion, Frederick, Maryland, and Norman (Angela) Myers, Belton, Texas, Melvina Gray and Michelle Marion of Dublin; stepchildren, Marilyn Gray Pittman, Lilburn, Karen (Telly) Keith, Dublin; one sister, Carrie Weldon, Bronx, New York; one sister-in-law, Dottie (James) Dyers, East Point, seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Melvina Gray, 320 West Drive in Dublin.
