Funeral services for Deaconess Maudie Mae White, of Vidalia, will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the First African Baptist Church, 107 East Second Street in Vidalia. Reverend Carl Wardlaw, Jr., will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Eternal Glory Gardens.

Mrs. White was born on November 20, 1928, to the late Otis and Rosa Coney in Laurens County.. She was the owner and operator of The Old Woman in the Shoe Daycare and Kindergarten for 62 years. She was loved and cherished by all that knew her. She had a smile for everyone she met. Her love and loyalty to family and friends and neighbors exemplified her gentleness of spirit. Mrs. White was the wife of the late Sylvester Paul (Riss) White, Sr. She was a member of First African Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Coney and Cornelius Coney and by one grandson, Jordan Paul White. On April 12, 2017, Vidalia, Lyons, Mt. Vernon, Reidsville, Soperton, and surrounding communities lost a jewel and a pillar of the community, Mrs. Maudie Mae White.

Mrs. White is survived by seven children, Patricia Mazyck, Sylvester Paul (Eartha) White, Jr., Phillip D. (Eula) White, Pedro (Theresa) White, Phyllis Oliver-Seck, Priscilla White, and Pamela White; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three sisters, Eldora Brown, Miami, Florida, Pastor Liz Graham, Savannah,, Ruby Ustick, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; three brothers, Ernest Coney, Bufus Coney and Herschel Coney, Atlanta,; special mention of Robert Darby and Tommy Darby who she helped raise; devoted friends, Liz Futch and Bernice Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
