Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Smalley Williams, of Vidalia, will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 12 PM at the First Baptist of Vidalia, at 206 Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue in Vidalia. Reverend Carl Wardlaw, Jr., will officate. Interment will follow in East Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born on October 17, 1933, as the youngest of six children born to the union of the late Benjamin Smalley, and the late Lillie Bentley Smalley. She attended the J. D. Dickerson Training School and graduated with honors in 1950. After graduation, she moved to New York City were is met and married Walter Brown who preceded her in death. Later on, she married Eugene Williams, Sr., in 1972 who also preceded her in death.

She was a member of Faith Miracle and later First Baptist Church of Vidalia. Mrs. Williams was a loving and supportative person. She passed away on July 3, 2016. She was preceded in death by sons, Russell Williams and Gilbert Brown, sisters, Ernestine Green and Allene Kettles, brothers, Tom Ben Smalley, Daniel Smalley, and Curtis Smalley.

She leaves to celebrate her life five sons, Benjamin (Carolyn) Brown, Wayne (Connie) Williams, Perry Williams, Earl Williams, and Eugene Williams, Jr., all of Vidalia, one sister-in-law, Helen Smalley of Texas, and devoted niece, Pamela Croft, and nephew, Reverend Russell Green, along with a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
