Mattie Pearl Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Pearl Sanders Jones, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 11 AM at the Dublin High School Auditorium, 1127 Hillcrest Parkway in Dublin. Bishop Mark Walden will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones, who passed on October 3, 2015, was born on March 26, 1952, in Dublin, Georgia. She was the ninth child born to the late Johnny and Mary Sanders.
Mrs. Jones graduated from the first integrated class of Dublin High School in 1970, and from Nairobi School of Cosmetology. Mattie was employed at Rockwell Automation for over 32 years. She was also an entrepreneur as a licensed cosmetologist at Mattie’s Place for ten years.
She gave her life to Christ as a young adult in 1975 and became a licensed Missionary of the Church of God in Christ. She dedicated her service to the Lord and worked diligently in the church as a Sunday School teacher, on the Pastor’s Aide Department, as a choir member, as a district public relations contact, as a Chairlady to a District Missionary.
Missionary Jones was the Elect Lady of Loving Ministries of Dublin, Inc., Church of God in Christ. She was a member of the Northern Georgia Second Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Mark Walden, Prelate. Missionary Jones coordinated the Vacation Bible School and Feed-A-Kid ministry. Missionary Jones developed a devotional reading and a good ethic each month for her church. She was also the current Chairlady to the District Missionary of the Agape District. She was also the coordinator for the marriage couple traveling ministry for ten years.
Missionary Jones was preceded in death by five siblings, Olee Lattimore, Charles Sanders, Mattie Mae Anthony, L.C. Sanders and Lee Sanders, and by a loving mother-in-law, Lannie Jones Smith.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her loving husband of thirty seven years, Superintendent Alton L. Jones; one son, Elder Bennie (Calesia) Jones; one daughter, Angel (Brian) Pryor, all of Dublin; three brothers, Joe Sanders, Lyons, Willie (Patricia) Sanders, Dublin, Terry (Sarah) Sanders, St. Petersburg, Florida; one sister, Johnnie Mae Delma, New York; five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; five grandchildren, NiQueria, Jesse, Keyanne, Tylah and Jazsmine; a devoted dialysis technician, Matthew Channel, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, co-workers, other friends including Loving Ministries Church Family and the Agape District Northern Georgia Second Jurisdiction.
The family will receive friends at 409 East Mary Street in Dublin.
