Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Mae “Matt” Brown, of Wrightsville, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on 368 Bill Oliver Road in Wrightsville. Reverend David Hall will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born on March 23, 1944, to the late Willie T. and Lizzie Mae Butler. She worked at the Johnson County Elementary School in the cafeteria. She attended the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown passed away on September 20, 2019. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillian Brown, and by her grandson, Brodrick Butler.

Mrs. Brown leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, L. J. Brown, daughter, Janie Smith, Dublin, five grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Asheria Brown, Kevin Butler, Danny Brown, and Ashanti Brown, of Wrightsville, nine sisters, Julia Mae (Benny) Davis, Lillie Bell Butler, Annie Julia Brown, Earnestine (A. C.) Oliver, Alvenia Gilbert, Vera (Leon) Davis, Ella Mae Butler, Janis Butler and Alzonia Butler, all of Wrightsville, two brothers, Ernest (Christine) Butler, Willie Butler and one aunt, Lois Pearl Oliver of Wrightsville, one devoted nephew, Keldrick Jordan of Wrightsville, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 8 Hillside Drive in Wrightsville, and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Friday, September 27, 5:30-6:30 PM.
