Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Wesley Slaughter, 76, of Wrightsville, will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 11 AM at the Community Missionary Baptist Church, 627 James Grove Church Road, Wrightsville. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Wrightsville.

Mrs. Mary Wesley Carter entered into eternal rest on Wednesday afternoon, August 7, 2013 after an extended illness. Mrs. Slaughter was born on June 15, 1937 in Johnson County to the late Reverend Walter Wesley Sr., and Mary Bell Kemp Wesley. Mrs. Slaughter graduated from Dock Kemp High School in 1955, and received to get her degree in Library Science from Paine College in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Grady F. Slaughter, and her two brothers, Clarence Wesley, and James Wesley.

She is survived by five brothers, Lorenzo D. Wesley, P.W. (Hazel) Wesley , Willie Wesley, Douglas (Jennell) Wesley, Walter (Sandra) Wesley Jr.,, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be placed in the church prior to services for viewing. Family will be receiving friends at the family residence, 313 Wesley Circle Road, Wrightsville, and at Saint James C. M. E. Church in Lovett on August 12, 2013 from 7 to 8 PM.
