Mary Anderson
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Haggins Anderson “aka” Aunt Mary,” of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 11 AM at the Rice Hill Baptist Church, 2706 Moore Station Road, Dublin. Reverend Abraham Crockett will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery in Dublin.
Mrs. Anderson was born (as a twin) on January 18, 1927 to the late Henry Lee and Zora Reeves Haggins in Dublin. She joined Rice Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in the Laurens County School System. She was married to the late Bobby Anderson. To this union no children were born. Mrs. Anderson moved to Miami as a young adult, where she remained until she retired in the early 80’s. While in Miami she was employed as a housekeeper for several families which she truly enjoyed and the families loved her. After retiring she decided it was time for her to spend more time with her aging mother, so she relocated back to Dublin to live. When she returned, she became a caretaker for her mother until her passing. She also was a caretaker for other aging or sick family members. Upon returning to Dublin, she renewed her membership at Rice Hill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
Mrs. Anderson loved life and never met a stranger; be it someone on the streets of Miami or sidewalks or stores in Dublin. She was very passionate about life and family. She stressed the importance of family always staying connected, no matter what. Mrs. Anderson enjoyed her home in Dublin. She loved sitting on her front porch admiring nature, watching people walk by, car drive by, talking on her telephone and occasionally sleeping. Other favorites were fishing, caring for her plants and most of all sewing. She even made a wedding dress. She was an awesome seamstress. Many family members and friends sought her assistance with clothing alternations. She was known for her cooking skills and sharing her dishes with friends, family and strangers, if they asked. Mrs. Anderson passed away on May 15, 2019.
Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all twelve of her siblings. She was the youngest daughter and last child of Henry Lee and Zora Reeves Haggins.
