Mary Alice Blair
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice “Aunt Mickie” Montford Blair, of Wrightsville, Georgia, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Community Missionary Baptist Church, 627 James Grove Baptist Church in Wrightsville. Reverend Curtis Blair will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Lovett Grove Community Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Blair was born on May 19, 1935, to the late Tommie and Alberta Martin Montford. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from the Dock Kemp School in Wrightsville. She was a well-respected worker for many years at Apparel Brands. She was also a devoted member of Saint Galilee Baptist Church of Wrightsville where she served as Sunday School Teacher and sang in the Senior Choir for many years. She later become a member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church. Although Mrs. Blair did not master the skill of driving, she did joyously find one her callings as a missionary in “telephone ministry” She reached out to the sick and shut-in, family and friends on a consistent basis. Her favorite motto was “Know that God and I Still Love You”. Mrs. Blair passed away on January 3, 2020.
Mrs. Mary Alice Blair was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Alberta Martin Montford, seven sisters, Ruby Dell Montford, Annie Mae Montford, Nora Hicks, Nadine Elbert, Mary Lizzie Waters, Arlene Ray, and Gloria “Glorene” Montford, and by her four brothers, Leo Montford, Elijah Montford, Sr., John Montford and Tommie Lee Montford.
Mrs. Blair leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 59 years, Perlie Blair, daughters, JoAnn Bennett of Ladson, South Carolina, Barbara Hilson of Wrightsville, Georgia, and Selinda (Mark) Key of Haines City, Florida, one son, Edward (Freda) Blair of Meriden, Connecticut, one brother, David (Dianne) Montford of Adrian, Georgia, four sisters-in-law, Rose Montford of Dublin, Georgia, Inez Montford of Miami, Florida, Mary Elbert, Readie Dudley of Meriden, Connecticut, Ethel J. Blair of Waterbury, Connecticut, five brothers-in-law, Verlion Blair of Wrightsville, Georgia, Gene Blair of Waterbury, Connecticut, Harry Parrish and Jimmy Elbert of Meriden, Connecticut, Eugene Williams, Sr., of Dublin, Georgia, grandchildren, Warren Bennett, LaKayla Hilson, Casey Hilson, Jr, Shequila Hilson, Vincent Blair, Latosha Blair, Edward Blair, Jr. , Roshonda M. Tyler, and Clifford J. Tyler, a devoted niece and nephew, Curtis and Kim Blair, the girls, Curesha, Curtevia, and Curmya Blair of Wrightsville, Georgia, a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.
