Marion Washington
Funeral services for Mr. Marion Washington, of Wrightsville, will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 1 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church, 133 East Trilby Street, Wrightsville. Pastor Norman Roberts will officiate. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Washington, who passed on October 30, 2015, was born on May 22, 1942, to the late Thurston and Ruby Washington.
He joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He attended the Johnson County public schools and graduated from Doc Kemp High School in 1960 and worked at Snell's Cleaners for many years. After later returning to Wrightsville, he purchased the business and turned it into Washington's Cleaners, a family business.
Mr. Washington was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Washington, and by a sister, Gloria Washington.
He is survived by his half-sister, Delois (Willie) Williams; first cousins, Lotis Wright, Runez Ridley, Wrightsville, Earlene Curry, Thomas Curry, Staten Island, New York and Gary Brownner, Jacksonville, Florida; second cousins, Eleanor West, Wayne Outlaw, Wrightsville, Hiram "Greg" Wright, Marvin "Raynard" Wright and Aaron Keith (Tama) Scott, Atlanta, devoted goddaughter, Lakeisha Wright, Wrightsville; several other devoted cousins, Henry Outlaw, Jr., Wrightsville, Johnnie (Wilbur) Kennedy, Harrison, Daisy (Mark) Wise, Minnie (Clyde) Jordan, Atlanta, and a host of dear friends including Henry Lee Abrams, his fishing partner.
