Funeral services for Mrs. Marilyn Leverne Edwards, 67, of Atlanta, will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11 AM at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, located at 1601 South Popular Springs Church Road in Dublin, Reverend Dr. Willie Edmond will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pearson Cemetery.

Marilyn Edwards was born on July 11, 1950, in Rentz, Georgia, to the late Reverend Malcolm and Mrs. Equilla (Speight) Edwards. She was a graduate of Mary Fleming High School where she played clarinet and enjoyed being an active member of the band. Raised in Laurens County, Georgia, she later moved to Miami, Florida, where she worked in the medical field as a laboratory technologist at Saint Francis Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and at National Laboratories. After retiring from her career, Mrs. Edwards returned to Laurens County, and later to Atlanta to be near her children. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta.

With a humble spirit, Mrs. Edwards lived life to the fullest and treasured life’s simple pleasures, and was a hard worker who touched the lives of many people with her generosity and kindness. She is survived by her children, Jacquelyn Y. Thomas (Roger) Eason, Alphermelia L. Martin, and Reginald L. Martin Sr.; grandchildren, Marissa Thomas, Jose Tanelus, Reginald Martin Jr.; great-grandchildren Makai Thomas, Alissa Pierre-Louis; siblings Autheria Mitchell, Malcolm (Pearline) Edwards, II, Joyce Chaney, Dr. Eve (Major John) Taylor, Prentice Rasheed, and Phyllis E. Turner; one aunt, Ms. Josephine Speight of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and many other relatives including nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017, 6-8 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home.
