Margaret Moss YORK -- Margaret Johnston Moss, 101, formerly of York, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Hospice House of Spartanburg. A graveside service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Dr. Tony Grant officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 10 - 11 AM at Bratton Funeral Home in York. Mrs. Moss was a daughter of the late John Knox Johnston and Annie Clowney Johnston. She was the widow of James L. Moss, Jr. Mrs. Moss served as a teacher for 35 years. In this capacity she was able to touch the lives of many York County children. Being a faithful and dedicated Christian, Mrs. Moss studied her Bible daily. She was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of York, SC, where she enjoyed her Sunday School class and being a member of her church circle. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed attending the White Rose Book Club meetings. Mrs. Moss was an accomplished artist, and she shared many of her paintings with members of her family. She enjoyed gardening, and she used many of her beautiful flowers in arrangements for her home. Mrs. Moss is survived by her sons, Dr. James Lucius Moss, III and wife Joanne of Franklin, MA, Rodney Johnston Moss and wife Jan of Spartanburg, SC, grandchildren, James Lucius Moss, IV, Judi Moss Wright, Jennifer Moss Shestok and husband Todd, great grandchildren, Madeleine Wright, Emma Wright, and Emmett Shestok. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by brothers, John Knox Johnston (Jack), William Wylie Johnston (Will), Robert Brice Johnston (Rob), sisters, Virginia Johnston Dantzler, Mary Heath Johnston, Anne Johnston Jordan, grandson Joel Rodney Moss, and grandson in law Andrew Wright.
