Funeral services for Mr. Mallie Coney, Jr., also known as "Span" of Miami, Florida, will be held on Saturday October 6, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 494 Evergreen Road, Dublin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Winfred McCloud and Reverend Jackie Holmes will officiate. Mr. Coney was born July 14, 1943 in Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia, to the late Mallie Coney, Sr. and the late Martha Pearl Thomas Coney. He was the sixth of eight siblings. He attended Laurens County Public Schools and relocated to Miami, Florida, at a young age. Mr. Coney leaves a loving and devoted family to cherish his memories including a son, Timothy Allen Coney, Miami, FL; two sisters: Nellie Wells, Atlanta and Shirley Howard, Asbury Park, NJ; three brothers: JB Coney, Dublin, Hubble Coney, Atlanta and AC Coney, Miami, FL; and a sister-in-law, Mable Coney, Cambridge, MA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends to include a special friend to the family and the mother of the two sons of the late Mallie Coney, Jr., Mrs. Waylene Floyd Parks of Sanford, FL. Pallbearers will be Christopher Wells, Earl Thomas, Willie Roy Whipple, Booker Thomas Jr., Horace Thomas, Paul Thomas, Roy Taylor and Bryson Wells. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Carl Judon, Eddie Joe Coney and Ulysses Wells.
