Maggie Terry

Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie D. Terry, of Dublin, will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017, at 2 PM at the graveside in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery on East Mary Street in Dublin. Reverend Clifford Hunter will officiate.

Mrs. Terry, who passed on February 15, 2017, was born on January 7, 1953, in Dublin, to the late Hardwick and Mary Reese, as their only child. As a child, she followed in the footsteps of her mother joining the historic First African Baptist Church, in Dublin. Spending nearly her entire life in Dublin, she attended schools here leading to the all black Oconee High School during the civil rights era of the 1960s until schools were desegregated and she went on to the integrated Dublin High School.

After high school, she gave birth to her first born, Travis and a second born, Byron. Placing permanent roots in Dublin, she worked for Forstmann, Inc, (aka The Woolen Mill). Then she gave birth to her last born, Terry. She met her future husband, John (J. D.) Terry, and they married in 1985. She was a hardworking and faithful employee of Forstmann until she was forced into medical retirement in 1997. Recovering from the December 1995 death of her father, Hardwick, she devoted her time as caregiver to her mother, Mary, until she passed in July 2009. She, and her husband, enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren until he passed in March of 2012. She then devoted her time to travel with the help of her two very close friends Mrs. Laverne Reynolds and Ms. Eunice Gillis. She spent her remaining years traveling the country from state to state spending time with her sons, closest friends and grandchildren. She lived to see the birth of her great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hardwick and Mary Reese and by her husband, John Terry.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Travis Reese, Dublin, and Byron Reese, Atlanta, Brooker Terry Robinson, Atlanta, daughter-in-law, Sheffie Cochran Robinson, grandchildren, Byron Reese, Trevor Robinson, Christine Clark, Miles Robinson and Bryan Reese, and her great-grandchild, Camryn Reese.

The family is receiving friends at 405 East Gaines Street in Dublin.
