Funeral services for Mae Will "Mompet" Thomas of East Dublin will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Brown Grove Baptist Church, 1210 Buckeye Road in East Dublin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Cecil Moore, Jr., will officiate.

Mrs. Thomas, who passed on March 9, 2014, was born on March 22, 1916, in Laurens County to the late Authur and Rosey Guyton Cochran.

She joined the Brown Grove Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until her health failed. Mrs. Thomas organized the Usher Board, Church Culinary Committee and has been the mother of the Brown Grove Baptist Church for fifty years. In 1987, she retired from the Laurens County Courthouse.

Mrs. Thomas was the last survivor of nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Louis Thomas; one daughter, Helen Dudley; one son, Roosevelt Thomas, Sr.; six sisters, Mrs. Zenith Street, Mrs. Addie L. Taylor, Mrs. Essie Wright, Mrs. Lelia M. Davis. Mrs. Lou W. Plummer, and Mrs. Marie Plummer; two brothers, Levi Guyton and Deacon Claxton Guyton.

Mrs. Thomas leaves to cherish her loving memories three daughters: Mary (Johnny C.) Reese of Titusville, Florida, Pearly Brown, and Mary (Johnny) Lattimore of East Dublin; one daughter-in-law, Mable Thomas of East Dublin; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, eleven great-great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mary (John) Lattimore, 459 Bridgemill Road in East Dublin.
