Funeral services for Mrs. Lula E. Hudson of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, 308 Rowe Street in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Mount Pullen African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery. Reverend Robert Travick will officiate.

Mrs. Lula Hudson, who passed on September 25, was born on April 26, 1925, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Tom and Almetta Woods.

She was a member of the Saint Paul A. M. E. Church. She was educated in the Laurens County School System and graduated from Washington Street High School in Dublin. She furthered her education at the Paine College of Nursing in Augusta. She also worked at many restaurants in Dublin as a server and short order cook.

Mrs. Hudson married her childhood friend, Calvin R. Hudson, who preceded her in death. To that union, God gifted six children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; three sons, Ferdinand H. Hudson, Gary P. Hudson, Ronald L. Hudson and her beloved only daughter, Valencia Carter-Simmons.

Mrs. Hudson is survived by her eldest son, Lawrence C. "L. C." (Barbara) Hudson of Bronx, NY, and her youngest son, Hugh L. (Barbara) Hudson of Marietta; devoted sister, Vivian Logan of Dublin; loving grandchildren, Felicia (Joseph) Sweat of Columbus, Henry Carter of Albany, David Carter of Leesburg, Tameasha Hudson of Savannah, Tosha Hudson of Matawan, New Jersey, Ateeya Hudson of East Dublin and LaTeeya Hudson of Marietta and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, neighbors and friends.

The family will receive friends at 505 North Decatur Street in Dublin.
