Lueroy Horne

Funeral services for Mrs. Lueroy Edmond Horne, "Candy", of Montrose, will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 11 AM at the New Vision Baptist Church, 951 Field Street in Dudley. Reverend Horace Austin will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services for viewing.

Mrs. Horne, who passed on January 28, 2017, was born on December 18, 1923, to the late Holman Edmond, Sr., and Magnolia (Mackey) Edmond. She was also preceded in death by Tommie Frank Ashley and Robert Horne, two children, James William Ashley, Alvin Bernard Ashley, one grandson, Brian Keith Ashley, four sisters and six brothers.

Mrs. Horne was a faithful member of the Byrd Hill Baptist Church / New Vision Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Board for many years. Mrs. Horne worked at Lord Quality Meat for a number of years. She later became employed with Bassett Furniture Company until they closed. She then started to work as a caregiver for several years until her health declined.

Mrs. Horne is survived by five children, Eudell E. Sleighmon, Dudley, Betty Jean (George) Howard, New Jersey, Allen (Mary) Ashley, Walter (Elaine) Ashley, Garrick Edmond all of Dudley, one brother, Holman (Lee Dorothy) Edmond, Jr., Atlanta; daughter-in-law, Anita Ashley, sister-in-law, Betty Mack, Rentz, twelve grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends, 6-9 PM nightly at 1241 Pryor Road in Dudley.
