Louis Lattimore, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Louis Charles "Nick" Lattimore, Sr., will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 11 AM at the graveside in the Holly Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, 2345 Buckeye Road in Dublin.

Mr. Lattimore was born on February 18, 1945, in Dublin, Georgia, the fifth child of Johnny Lattimore, Sr., and Levonia Lattimore. Relocating to Detroit, Michigan in 1968, he enjoyed a long career at Ford Motor Company. Nick was an active member of UAW Local 36 and a hi-lo driver for many years. He remained with Ford Motor Company until his retirement.

Nick developed a deep love and passion for riding motorcycles, traveling, crossword puzzles and collecting antique model cars. His beautiful smile, charming personality and infectious laugh are just a few characteristics that made him loved by everyone he came in contact with. Nick was a fun loving person full of energy who enjoyed life to the fullest.

No grass grew under his feet because he wouldn't sit still. I-75 South doesn't owe him anything, which is why we affectionately called him “The Roadrunner”. Nick was in his element when surrounded by family and friends. His sense of humor, love of the blues, cars and motorcycles will always be remembered.

Nick was accustomed to always being on the go. He would wake up in the morning putting on his black leather cowboy boots. We all know how much he loved those boots. Even in the house, he would wear them like 'house shoes'. Those boots were truly made for walking, running and riding. A memorable moment during a hospital discharge, he was instructed to get dressed. He proceeded to put his boots on and said he was ready. Mind you, he still had the hospital gown on and yes it was open in the back (lol). He laughed so hard that he was crying. He will truly be missed!

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Willie C, and Ralph Lattimore; his sisters, Pauline Smith, Doris Wiggins, and Rosetta Lattimore. Louis is survived by his siblings, Johnny Lattimore (Mary), East Dublin, Georgia; Robert Lattimore, Sr. (Jeanette), Griffin, Georgia; Waymon Lattimore (Ella), Dublin, Georgia; Dr. Delores Foster (Edward), Atlanta, Georgia; James Lattimore (Hattie), Douglasville, Georgia; Rostell Lattimore (Dr. Kim), Houston, Texas; and Theotis Lattimore (Sherrie), Detroit, Michigan.

Louis had 6 beautiful children, Jerome “Bo” Lattimore, Dublin, Georgia; Louis Lattimore, Jr. (Betty), Detroit, Michigan; Tracy Lattimore, Detroit, Michigan; Veronica Guy (Pierre), Roswell, Georgia; Charles Darden, Detroit, Michigan, and Laveca Avant, (James) Detroit, Michigan. Louis had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family members and friends that loved him dearly.
